Spring will blossom as you build this adorable LEGO Bird’s Nest. It is surrounded with bright colors, unique elements, and is as cute as a button. I look forward to each seasonal animal set that is released, and this lovely nest of our feathered friends did not disappoint.
The set is designed for ages 9+, and has 232 pieces. The build itself was not very technical, but enjoyable. It is an easy adult build, or an intermediate challenge for young builders. It was released on February 1, 2023. Tucked away inside the box are 5 bags, a base plate, and an instruction book.
Bag #1 helped me create the Momma bird. Her bright orange head and chest are a lovely compliment to her slate gray wings and back. I really like the way the wings were attached using the ball and joint sockets enabling me to position the wings in multiple ways. I was very excited to discover the use of transparent orange dish pieces for the eyes. The use of these created a very realistic looking eye for the bird.
Next, I focused on the nest for our lovely mother and her offspring. Beginning with the included base plate the nest built up quickly. The edges of the nest were exciting to build as they created many unique attachments that would be used later for adding small twigs and greenery as accessories. I loved the use of two lovely shades of pink flowers, and the branch that extends out on one side was exciting to build. It hinges at its midpoint and the attached flowers can be adjusted to your liking. Having completed the mother and her nest I was ready to build her sweet babies.
Nothing is sweeter than a nest full of baby birds, and these two cheerful yellow babies are as cute as can be. I am always excited to discover new ways to combine pieces, and the three parts used to create the feet on the baby birds was a technique I had not seen before and really enjoyed. Similar to their mother, the babies have wings that can move up and down. Siblings are on the way for our twin hatchlings for nestled in the nest are three brightly colored eggs. The nest completes all the stages of a growing family in a beautiful way.
Overall this set was a lot of fun to build. The set included unique ways of attaching the components, and the pink flowers stand out beautifully next to the orange and yellow birds. Priced at just 12.99 USD this set is a great buy. It would be wonderful to add to any adult collection, and it would also appeal to many younger children and teens.
